The North Carolina Program on Health Literacy has resources and expertise to help organizations interested in promoting health literacy in practice and research. Below you will find the services we offer and we invite you to contact us for questions and more information.
We can provide seminars and workshops to health care professionals regarding general health literacy education, patient-provider communication, best practices and interventions to use in practice, and integration of health literacy concepts into health care practice.
Experts in materials development can consult with and assist organizations in the evaluation or creation of health education materials. Emphasis on materials evaluation and design is based on best-practices in health communication and patient decision-making for low literacy populations.
Experts in adult education can work with adult educators and community adult education stakeholders to develop health literacy curricula and strategies to integrate health literacy concepts into general adult education programs.
We can consult with quality improvements in health care initiatives to develop methods and strategies to incorporate health literacy into quality improvement projects. We can also consult and assist health care organizations with integrating and implementing health literacy concepts and quality improvement strategies into practice.
Free grant writing assistance is offered to UNC researchers interested in pursuing research objectives or programming related to health literacy.
